I will take a look at the original 4.1.7 version and check which parts to copy over to get these functions back (if possible).

Not likely to happen, as the phone libraries in 4.2 have had significant rewriting from the ground up, so they're two different beasts both in how they're used, and also even in basic APIness, can be seen best in [1] vs [2]

The 4.2.0 open source release was supposed to be accompanied by a 4.2.0 Greenphone SDK which would have provided the required binary-only phone files. Unfortunately, the 4.2.0 Greenphone SDK didn't materialise which does seem to have left a bit of a hole. Perhaps this can be remedied by a small package containing the required files... or perhaps not. It seems that a 4.2.1 release (that will include the SDK with binaries) is imminent so a tarball for 4.2.0 is not going to happen.
